Captain Austin Jenks House : ウィキペディア英語版 | Captain Austin Jenks House
Austin Jenks, a river boat captain and businessman, purchased property and built a house at 504 5th St. South, Stillwater, Minnesota,() between 1861 and 1871. The house is composed of three architectural styles contemporary to the mid nineteenth century, all predating the Queen Anne style() more commonly reflected in historic Stillwater homes. The cruciform roof line and floor plan with a bracketed square entry tower in the arm of the cross are of the Italianate (Tuscan Villa ) style. The steep eaves, soffits and finials together with gables and paired windows framed by square cut stone sills and lentils are in the (American Gothic Revival ) style. Finally, the mansard tower roof, platform porches, and oval stained glass windows are of French Second Empire() influence. The home has been recently restored to its original period condition by its present owner and occupant, Dr. J. Thomas Vaughan.〔(U of M:CMRR:Faculty and Staff:Thomas Vaughan )〕 The Capt. Austin Jenks House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. ==References==
